Course Overview

ICMP's Advanced Vocals course is for singers who already have a solid technical foundation. Over 12 weeks, you'll move beyond building technique and start making artistic choices, exploring what makes your voice and your performances your own.

The course is built around three goals: expanding a reliable, sustainable vocal technique, developing your musicianship and stylistic awareness, and growing confidence in your expression and individuality. You'll work through vocal health, independent practice and self-coaching, balance, blend and mix, vocal colours, styling, and interpretation and storytelling, then bring it all together in performance.

At the heart of the course is a solo song. Working on it week by week, you'll explore the connections between you as the performer, the song and your audience, and learn to shape a performance that really communicates.

This part-time evening course is taught in person at ICMP's campus in London. Each week you'll set goals, perform, create harmonies, analyse what you hear and reflect on your own singing and your peers', with feedback from your ICMP vocal tutor along the way.
